Caitlin Clark’s rampage on the record books continued on Sunday, David Suggs reports for The Sporting News.
The Iowa supernova took another step towards immortality in the Hawkeyes’ national championship clash with South Carolina. With 21 points in the first half, Clark became the NCAA Tournament’s greatest-ever scorer. In the process, she surpassed some marquee names, including one Basketball Hall of Famer.

Clark made history on Sunday, surpassing Chamique Holdsclaw’s mark of 478 points.

She broke the record in style, rising over Kamilla Cardoso’s outstretched grasp to knock down a 3-pointer just as the first quarter ended. It was one of 18 points she dropped in the opening frame.
Clark’s showcase was central to the Hawkeyes opening up an 11-point advantage in the game’s early moments.
With her display, Clark became March Madness’ all-time leader in points. She already held the record mark in assists and 3-pointers made. With those numbers, it’s hard to argue she’s not the tournament’s greatest-ever player.
