Barcelona coach Xavi was furious with referee Slavko Vincic in yesterday’s 1-0 loss to Inter. He appeared to suggest that the official took a bribe from the opponent during the match, Apollo Heyes writes for Football Italia.
The Catalan side was left with an extremely bitter taste in their mouthes after the defeat at San Siro last night, believing that Pedri’s goal should stand and that a penalty should’ve been given after an apparent handball by Denzel Dumfries in the dying minutes of the match. Xavi was infuriated when speaking to the media after the defeat, calling it an ‘outrage.’
As highlighted by Eurosport IT, Xavi’s anger wasn’t limited to words. At one point during the match, he appeared to do a ‘paid off’ gesture towards the referee, suggesting that Inter had influenced the decisions. The moment wasn’t caught on the broadcast but has since gone viral on social media.
Xavi received a booking for his touchline anger during the match, and Barcelona is now ready to report referee Vincic to UEFA, believing his poor officiating cost them the game.
