Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen says winning the Serie A this season and the African cup of Nations slated for Ivory Coast next year are his main priorities.

Napoli is leading the pack in Seria A of the Italian football league with sixty-five points from 24 matches, scoring fifty-eight, and conceding just fifteen goals, with Osimhen already scoring nineteen times this season for his club.

Osimhen told CBS sports that he has dreamed of winning the two competitions since moving to Italy.

He joined Napoli for a club record fee of 70 million Euros from Lille FC of France in 2020 and immediately won the 2021/2022 Serie A young player award.

“The Serie A and the Afcon are on my mind. I will be very happy if we can win the league at the end of the season. After that, the next thing is to help my country win the African cup of Nations,” Osimhen told CBS Sports.

Nigeria currently leads the Group A of the CAF Nations Cup qualifiers with 6 points from two games.

Osimhen adds, “I’ll start thinking about playing in the next world cup if I can win the league and the Afcon. I felt bad that Nigeria failed to beat Ghana to qualify for Qatar’s 2022 FIFA World Cup.”

The Super Eagles played a goalless draw with the Black Stars at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi. They settled for a 1-1 draw at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja, ceding Ghana’s advantage to qualify for Qatar 2022 on the away goal rule.

Nigeria international forward Osimhen’s 19th goal of the season for Napoli matched Cristiano Ronaldo’s scoring record in eight successive Serie A games.
