Over eight hundred kids from the 36 states of the federation including the federal capital territory Abuja will participate in the Dr. Sadiq Abdullahi Vision 2035 tennis program which kicks off in 2025.

Dr. Abdullahi in a chat with Sports Joust explained that each state would be given the opportunity to register at least 20 players for the coaching program aimed at tapping budding talents in the country ahead of future local and international competitions.

According to Abdullahi, “It is going to be a national program. Every community in all the states in the country would be involved. Coaches would be selected from all the local areas that are interested to be part of the program.”

He added: “Tennis coaches have been complaining that they’ve not been getting attention for while. We are definitely going to engage the best coaches from all the communities and states that identify with Vision 2035.

“The coaches will have to meet up with our standards because our aim in to produce future champions.”

Dr. Abdullahi who is based in the United States of America, is expected to travel to Nigeria in July to promote the event with his partner a former Super Eagles forward Segun Odegbami.

All the players would be camped at the Segun Odegbami international soccer academy in Wasimi, Ogun State.

Dr. Abdullahi is a Nigerian-born tennis player and executive director of Tennis Vision 2035. He is an adjunct professor at Florida International University and Miami Dade College.
