The President and members of the Olympic and Commonwealth Games Movement in Nigeria have commiserated with the Guardian Newspapers at Rutam House over the demise of its photo editor, Femi Adebeshin Kuti, 57, who died in the early hours of January 6.

After a brief illness, Kuti passed away at the federal medical center, Abeokuta.

A statement signed by NOC PRO Tony Nezianya states: “Kuti was a committed journalist who used his expertise in photojournalism to promote sports and the activities of the Movement.

During his lifetime, he covered many international notable Games, including the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England, the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, the Africa Games in Abuja 2003, as well as that of Algiers, Algeria, in 2007.

It was gathered that he covered two previous FIFA World Cup events.

“May the Almighty Allah accept his soul, the statement adds.”

Late Kuti has since been buried according to his Islamic religious rites.
