Leicester City FC Manager Brenden Rodgers is unhappy with Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho and his teammates following the team’s 1-2 FA Cup loss to lowly Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday at the King Power stadium.

Rodgers, who described the defeat as an embarrassment, said his boys did not do what was expected against Blackburn.

“We just didn’t perform well. It’s as simple as that. We won 4-1 a couple of weeks ago, and to do well and constantly well, is to take that mentality and that courage into the game, this would be a tough game, but we would get through. But we didn’t, ” Rodgers told Leicestershire live.

“Congratulations to Blackburn Rovers. They were the better team. We presented them with a couple of goals; we gave the ball away cheaply for the first (goal). Likewise with the second (goal). The player gets through the middle of our defense far too easily. Then you’re chasing it.”

“Two-nil, it’s an easy scoreline to go freely in. We showed spirit and drive then, but you must show that when it’s 0-0 and impose your game. We weren’t able to do that, sadly.”

The former Liverpool manager, who is seriously worried about his players’ lackluster performances this season, told his team at their post-match meeting to buckle up or risk losing their places to players with the right mentality to improve the team’s current standard.

Leicester City currently occupies the 14th position with 24 points from 24 matches. The Foxes are just 3 points above the relegation zone.

Leicester City was relegated from the Premiership in the 2003/ 2004 season with 38 points, along with Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
