Black Stars of Ghana and Freiburg FC of Germany forward Daniel Kofi Kyereh has been ruled out of the 2022/ 2023 Bundesliga season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.
“In Thursday’s training, Kofi Kyereh twisted his knee in a duel. An examination in the University Hospital resulted in the diagonisis of a cruciate ligament fracture. An operation is to follow in the next few days” Freiburg FC said in a statement.
“The attacker will no longer be available this season”.
Kyereh will also miss Black Stars’ Africa cup of nations (AFCON) double header qualifying play against Gabon in March.
Reacting to the news of Kyereh’s injury, Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku, described the development as a big blow to the national team, adding that the forward would be missed by the technical crew and teammates.
“Kofi Kyereh is one of our best players. It’s so sad that he won’t be part of the Black Stars squad against Gabon. We wish him soonest recovery” Okraku said.
