England defender Fikayo Tomori is eyeing an England recall while tipping his AC Milan FC to win the 2022/2023 UEFA Chanpions League competition this summer.

Tomori told BT Sports after Milan’ s 1-0 win over Napoli in the first leg quarter final match at the San Siro stadium on Wednesday that his club is in the competition to win, insisting Milan is not in the champions league just to make up the number.

“Whatever team we play in the knock out stage, we are ready to give our best. It was difficult at the preliminary rounds and I know it is going to be more difficult at this level of the competition because you’re going to play against the best” Fikayo told BT Sports.

“I am looking forward to the second leg against Napoli at the Diego Maradona stadium next week. I am very sure that it is going to be a tough match. We have been working hard and I believe we will qualify for the semi final.”

When asked if he thinks he can still play for the Three Lions , Fikayo said, ” I was disappointed not going to the World cup in Qatar. At the moment, I am not thinking about England. My focus is on how to help Milan win the Champions league.

Fikayo explained that his Milan experience has improved his game tremendously and he strongly believes he would play for England sooner than later.

“Gareth Southgate has been keeping in touch with me. He called me few weeks ago and told me to keep the good work going and that shows that he would give me the chance to return to the England national team.

AC Milan have won the Champions League seven times, carting home the title in season 1962/63, 1968/69, 1988/89, 1993/94, 2022/03 ,and 2006/07.

It will be recalled that Tomori was snubbed by England boss Southgate for the December 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup in Qatar making him still eligible to represent Canada and Nigeria by virtue of parental ties.
