Marcel Kohler, who guided the Red Devils to a record-extending 11th title, spoke on Thursday, 15 February, ahead of Friday’s group stage catch-up fixture with CR Belouizdad of Algeria at the 5 July 1962 Olympic Stadium in Algiers, CAFonline reports.

“Our team has players with great experience and good at dealing with pressure. I am confident in their ability to get a victory away from him, especially since the clubs in the group have become close in the rankings. At this stage, all points are crucial, and we need not to drop any,” said Kohler.

The TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Match Day 5 resumes next weekend; however, due to Ahly’s FIFA Club World Cup schedule, they will play their Match Day 4 on Friday against the Belouizdad.

The defending champions are tied on 5 points with Tanzania’s Young Africans, who have played a game extra, while hosts of the fixture, Belouizdad, will be looking at toppling the defending champions, with just a point separating them from Ahly and Young Africans.

Joining Kohler in Thursday’s press conference was defender Rami Rabia, who boldly said:

“Our goal is to get the three points. We strive to win every match. We do not think about any other factors but the game itself. We have the experience of this competition. There is no such thing as overconfidence. The technical staff and players deal with the match very seriously to achieve their goals and make the fans happy.”
