What a day a day this must be for young Ethan Nwaneri to make English Premier League history at just 15 years plus 181 days, Edwin Emeanua writes for Sports Joust?

 

The young England jumior international was injected into the final minutes for Arsenal’s 3-0 mauling of Brentford today, making him  the youngest player ever to play in prestigeous Premier League.

 

The attacking midfielder was included in Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal first-team for the visit to the other side of the capital, in place of team captain Martin Odegard, who nicked a knock in training.

 

Fabio Vieira took  Odegaard’s place to make his first Premier League start and his full debut in the competition, as well as scoring a second half goal.

 

The 22-year-old’s 25-yard stunning goal increased Arsenal’s lead to 3-0 following William Saliba and Gabriel Jesus headed-in first half goals, with Arsenal recording a commanding routing of the home side.

 

Vieira was substituted, albeit to a standing ovation from the Arsenal faithfuls, as Nwaneri took his place to made his first-team appearance for Arsenal.

 

This makes the England Under-17 international the youngest-ever player in Premier League history, having overtaken Harvey Elliott, who debuted for Fulham at 16 years and 38 days.

 

Nwaneri helped Arsenal to comfortably conclude the final moments of the match and taking the Gunners to the top of the table as they await next month’s North London derby with Tottenham Hotspur.
