AEW Dynamite Grand slam results: Defeats Claudio Castagnoli
Chris Jericho is one of the most storied champions in professional wrestling history – but there’s one company where he’s never held gold. Ring of Honor has never had Chris Jericho on their roster, and he’s never really had a chance to claim the ROH World Championship – until now. He would challenge Claudio Castagnoli for a match here tonight at Grand Slam, and Claudio is the very definition of a fighting champion. Can he stop Jericho from claiming another world championship?
Claudio Castagnoli Enters His Fifth Title Defence As ROH World Champion
Jericho would accept the Code of Honor as this match began, with a slap to the face added in by Jericho. Claudio would respond with a flurry of uppercuts into the corner before throwing Jericho from corner to corner with the running variants. Jericho was lifted into a Gorilla Press and dropped crotch first on the top rope before being sent to the floor with a big boot.
Claudio would follow to the floor and hit the running uppercut before Jericho would use ROH Hall of Famer Cary Silkin as a human shield. This would allow Jericho to get a brief advantage before coming off the top rope and being caught with an uppercut. Jericho would regain the advantage in the ring but wasted time taunting before looking for the triangle dropkick and catching an uppercut.
Claudio would look for a suplex on the apron, but Jericho blocked before they traded forearm shots. Jericho would get the suplex, and both men crashed to the floor. They’d get back into the ring before the twenty counts before Jericho would hit the backdrop suplex for a two count.
Claudio would go for the always reliable uppercuts before missing one in the corner. Jericho would catapult him into the bottom rope throat first but was unable to maintain the advantage. Two boots to the face would drop Jericho like a sack of bricks before Claudio would roll up to the top rope.
Chris Jericho Doesn’t Know The Meaning Of Honor
He’d be unable to fly as Jericho would catch him with some strikes before trying to the Superana. Claudio would try to block into the Ricola Bomb, but Jericho reversed at the last second into the hurricarana for a two count. Jericho would look for the Codebreaker, but Claudio caught him and turned it into a pop-up uppercut.
Claudio would hit the Hammer & Anvil Elbow strikes before the giant swing was blocked – but the double stomp was not. Sharpshooter would be applied, but Jericho found the bottom rope. Jericho looked for a low blow but was blocked and hit with the Ricola Bomb – and was somehow able to kick out.
Some crown knee strikes to the midsection would follow from Claudio before a heavy-handed chop. Claudio looked for the springboard uppercut but was caught with the Codebreaker for a near fall. The Walls Of Jericho would be attempted, but Claudio broke free and stomped Jericho’s head in.
Giant Swing would follow, with around 20 rotations followed by a slingshot into the corner. Claudio nailed a lariat but only got two before Jericho would grab his bat. This was a ruse to hit the low blow and the Judas Effect for the dishonourable victory.

AEW Dynamite Grand Slam Results: The Acclaimed
Defeat Swerve In Our Glory To Win AEW World Tag
Team Championships

Back at All Out, The Acclaimed proved they belong at the top of the AEW Tag Team division. They took Swerve In Our Glory to their limits in the best match of the night but came up short in the end. However, due to fan demand – we get the rematch here tonight, and The Acclaimed are going to be laser-focused on claiming gold. Add in potential tension between Swerve & Lee, and tonight could be their night.
Swerve In Our Glory entering Hostile Territory
Judging by the crowd’s reactions to entrances, they hated Swerve Strickland, liked Keith Lee, and LOVED The Acclaimed. Everyone loves The Acclaimed in Arthur Ashe Stadium – not a cop in sight. The crowd had a heavy “Scissor Me Daddy” chant as the bell rang, and Bowens would start with Lee. He’d get the headlock applied to Lee before being sent off the ropes.
Lee would come back with a running hurricanrana, leaving Bowens flying off to the side and speechless. Caster would get the tag and was overpowered into the neutral corner – before being unable to hit an arm drag. Lee stopped him dead in his tracks before going for the Biel Toss and taking the arm drag after the reversal.
The Acclaimed would look to scissors before Swerve would hit a dropkick to the back of the head. Caster would have his knee targeted by Swerve with a dropkick to the back before a leg snap on the mat. Swerve would hit the running uppercut to the spine before forcing Caster into a hammerlock.
Keith Lee would get the tag, and Caster tried and failed to get the suplex. Lee would nail the elbow smash before Caster used his speed to complete the tag after a power slam to Swerve and a superkick and suplex to Lee. Bowens would hit the ring with quick strikes before dropping Lee with the superkick.
Everybody Loves The Acclaimed
Swerve was able to slip in and nail the House Call kick to the head of Bowens before Swerve Stomp was attempted. Bowens would avoid a roll-up and turn it right into a Buckle Bomb. Lee would hit the headbutt to shut Bowens down before Biel threw over the top rope. In the ring, Caster was planted with a spinebuster – and narrowly avoided the second rope moonsault press.
Swerve tried to use the boombox of The Acclaimed as a weapon but got Lee instead. The Acclaimed would take Swerve down before a flipping neck breaker – but Caster landed hard on his knee out of the Mic Drop. They missed a perfect chance to end this, and Lee would complete the tag.
Swerve hit the rolling solebutt kick in the corner before Caster was able to hit the backdrop. Lee would hit the pounce to the back before launching him into a powerbomb from Swerve, but somehow – Caster kicked out.
Swerve would hit a 450 and stomp the floor, with Billy Gunn helping The Acclaimed get an opening to recover…. And a FameAsser behind the back. Bowens hit The Arrival – Caster hit The Mic Drop, and we have NEW AEW World Tag Team Champions.
