Could try and sign striker with more goals than Erling Haaland if Victor Osimhen bid fails
Chelsea’s top target for the summer is Victor Osimhen, but if their bid to sign him fails, the Blues could turn to Viktor Gyokeres, Shamanth Jayaram reports for TBR.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have problems in multiple areas of their pitch, but the biggest one is arguably up front. They are struggling to score goals, and Osimhen would change that. Gyokeres, who is having a fine season in Portugal, would be a solid option too for Chelsea.

Almost every top club in Europe would love to sign Victor Osimhen this summer, and that includes Chelsea.
Nicolas Jackson has shown flashes of his quality up front, while Christopher Nkunku has spent more time on the sidelines than on the pitch due to injuries.
A new striker is a necessity in the summer, and Osimhen, who is one of the best forwards in the world right now, is on top of their shortlist.
However, with so many other clubs keen to sign the Napoli star, it could prove to be difficult for Chelsea. That’s why they have alternatives, and Viktor Gyokeres is one of them.
Dean Jones has claimed in his report on GiveMeSport that Chelsea view the Sporting Lisbon striker as a ‘great profile fit’ for their squad if their move to sign Osimhen fails.
The Swede, whose release clause is set at £86 million, would be cheaper than Osimhen too – the Nigerian will cost £113 million (Daily Mail).
Gyokeres is outscoring Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah
Viktor Gyokeres was in the Championship at Coventry City last season, and he was very good there. But, no Premier League side took a chance on him.
Sporting Lisbon did, and they are now reaping the rewards.
Gyokeres has scored 31 goals and provided 11 assists for the Portuguese side this season. That is an incredible return, especially when you compare it to the best goalscorers in England.
Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland has scored 27 goals and provided six assists, while Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has managed 19 goals and 10 assists.
Gyokeres has the potential to become a real star, and if Chelsea can’t get Osimhen, the Swede would be a solid alternative.
