A’ja Wilson’s NCAA run
A’ja Wilson had one of the most successful NCAA runs in history. A former South Carolina basketball player, Wilson guided the Gamecocks to several titles and SEC single-game records. She was named SEC Freshman of the Year in her first year and a consensus All-American in her second.
In 2017, she won the school’s first national title and was awarded Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament. 2018 she had her finest statistical season and received all National Player of the Year accolades. Wilson finished her collegiate career as South Carolina’s all-time top scorer. On Martin Luther King Day, a monument of Wilson was erected at Colonial Life Arena, and she thanked her grandmother for it.
