Napoli FC of Italy are lining up  €20 million move for Nigeria’s Union Saints Gilloise striker, Victor Boniface as the  replacement of Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen this Summer.

Osimhen has been on fire in Napoli’s colors this season with a total of twenty-five strikes so far, sending Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint German, jostling for his signature.

According to a top Italian Journalist, Daniele Longo, Napoli are aware of the possibility of Osimhen joining another club next season, and are currently holding talks with the Management of Union Saint Gilloise FC of Belgium for the signature of Victor Boniface.

“A fee in the region of twenty million Euros will make the deal a reality. Napoli ‘s representatives have traveled to Belgium twice this year to discuss the deal,” Longo said.

Napoli will have to contend with AC Milan (Italy), Lazio FC (Italy, and Eintracht Frankfurt FC of Germany for the signature of Boniface, and the current Europa League joint top scorer . Boniface’s 5 Europa League goals tie Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford’s goal prolificity in the ongoing European series.

Report from Italy indicates that Napoli remains the choice destination for Boniface because the Partenopei (The Parthenopeans) are in the market for another prolific striker to replace the about-to-depart Osimhen, immediately after the 2022/ 2023 season.

Napoli is current Serie A leaders on seventy-one points from twenty eight games.

Star forwards Asisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie have arrived in the camp of Nigeria’s senior women national team, Super Falcons ahead of two friendly matches in the Turkish city of Antalya.

Serial award-winner Oshoala has not played for the nine-time African champions since the Women Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco nine months ago, while barnstorming forward Oparanozie is linking up with the squad for the first time since the Aisha Buhari Cup Tournament in Lagos in September 2021.

The arrival of the two respected markswomen generated positive vibes at The Sense De Luxe Hotel camp of the Falcons, ahead of Friday’s clash with World Cup debutants Haiti at the Emir Sports Complex.

Also in camp now are goalkeepers Chiamaka Nnadozie, Inyene Etim and Yewande Balogun, defenders Onome Ebi, Glory Ogbonna, Tosin Demehin, Rofiat Imuran and Ashleigh Plumptre, midfielders Toni Payne, Christy Ucheibe, Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, Regina Otu, Deborah Abiodun and Halimatu Ayinde, and forwards Esther Okoronkwo, Gift Monday, Rasheedat Ajibade and new invitee Vivian Ikechukwu.

Only defender Michelle Alozie and forwards Jennifer Echegini and Uchenna Kanu, all based in the United States of America, were still being expected as of Wednesday evening.

The Super Falcons have snatched back their winning mentality following the defeat of World Cup-bound Costa Rica at the Revelation Cup Tournament in Mexico City in February, and will be in great mood for Friday’s clash with the Haitians.

Emmanuel Dennis’ Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has openly supported his coach Steve Cooper after a string of poor Premier League turn-overs, but the Greek shipowner insisted that the side’s downhill motion on the table should be immediately corrected.

Forest loss away to Leeds United on Tuesday stretched their winless tally to eight league games on the trot and currently sees them in the 17th spot on the table with 27 points, same as three other strugglers, and partly avoiding the drop line because of their more impressive goal difference over periled Bournemouth.

The defeat by Leeds mounted immediate additional pressure on Cooper’s job at City Ground, with earlier rumors suggesting that the Welshman could become the 13th Premier League head-coach to be chopped off his  job this season.

“No one denies that our club is in a difficult position in the Premier League, but we wish to end the speculation and the false and disruptive reporting in the media to confirm that Steve Cooper remains our manager,” Marinakis said in a statement.

“We have all been disappointed with recent performances and it is very clear that a lot of hard work needs to be done to address this urgently… There can be no time for distractions, rumors and speculation.

“There is only time for hard work, determination, a commitment from Steve and the players to getting the results we need…”

Chelsea summons Lampard for interim role

Frank Lampard spotted at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea consider appointing him as caretaker manager: report

Chelsea are currently on the hunt for a permanent manager after sacking Graham Potter last weekend, but owner Todd Boehly could make the shock decision to appoint Frank Lampard on a temporary basis until the end of the season, Ryan Dabbs reports for Four Four Two.

Bruno Saltor is currently the interim head coach of the Blues, overseeing Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night. Saltor served under Potter as a coach during his short tenure at Chelsea.

However, with Lampard spotted in attendance at the game, The Sun are reporting that Chelsea are considering appointing him as caretaker manager until the end of the current campaign.

The Blues legend looked happy to be in the standsFrank Lampard in possible Chelsea return

Lampard managed Chelsea under the previous ownership, from 2019 until his sacking in January 2021. The Chelsea legend was in the dugout for 84 games during his 18 months at the helm, posting a win percentage of 52.4 per cent.

He also led them to the FA Cup final in 2019/20, where Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side beat them.

Chelsea have nine Premier League games and a Champions League quarter-final tie against Real Madrid to come in the remainder of the season. When Chelsea won Europe’s premier competition in 2021, Lampard got them out of the group stage but didn’t have the opportunity to navigate the knockout stages prior to his sacking.

More recently, the 44-year-old kept Everton in the Premier League last season, surviving relegation after taking over the Goodison side in a precarious position. Failure to help the club progress this campaign ultimately led to his dismissal in January, though, with Sean Dyche replacing him.

In Chelsea’s hunt for a permanent manager, there are a host of names being linked with the job.

Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann is said to be a front-runner and have a “great relationship” with Todd Boehly, while out-of-work Luis Enrique, Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino are all reportedly holding talks with club executives.

Enrique has previously expressed his desire to manage in England, but it seems Pochettino prefers a move back to Tottenham. Elsewhere, former Chelsea bosses Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho have also been linked with the vacant role.

Luis Enrique to Chelsea for talks

Luis Enrique is traveling to London for further talks with Chelsea after impressing in initial discussions with the club, Miguel Delaney writes for Independent Sports UK.

The 52-year-old, who left the Spain international job after the World Cup, is said to have successfully sold a clear vision for the team.

Luis Enrique explained his high-intensity and high-pressing approach, that especially fits the young players that Chelsea have brought in.

The club have previously been interested in the former Barcelona coach before, but both his wage demands and comparative lack of English put the club off amid other choices. Luis Enrique has been working on the language, though, and the current hierarchy are sufficiently interested by his tactical ideal.

The former midfielder also has the benefit of being the only candidate currently being considered to have won the Champions League, after his 2014-15 treble with Barcelona.

Also, Nizaar Kinsella reports for the UK Evening Standard that Enrique is traveling to London for talks to replace Graham Potter as Chelsea manager, after impressing in initial talks.

The 52-year-old is understood to want the job and is flying over with his friend and representative Ivan de la Pena, according to reports in Spain.

A treble-winner with Barcelona, the coach has been out of work in the club game since 2017, but has stayed relevant in international football, playing a progressive, possession-based style with Spain until his sacking after the World Cup.

He is one of at least five coaches expected to be interviewed to replace Potter, who was sacked on Sunday.

Shane McGuigan plots to beat Okolie

Shane McGuigan says he will prepare a plan to beat “the best cruiserweight on the planet” when he takes on his former fighter Lawrence Okolie with Chris Billam-Smith on May 27

Sky Sports reports that Lawrence Okolie will put his WBO cruiserweight world title on the line against Chris Billam-Smith in Bournemouth on May 27, live on Sky Sports.

Shane McGuigan – trainer of Billam-Smith and formerly in Okolie’s corner – says: “We will devise a plan to beat him”

Okolie will put his WBO cruiserweight title on the line against Billam-Smith next month in his former training partner’s hometown of Bournemouth, live on Sky Sports.

The pair both worked under McGuigan until Okolie joined up with SugarHill Steward, and the trainer says he knows from experience how much more the champion has to offer than he showed in a workmanlike points win over David Light in Manchester last month.

“I don’t think it was the best performance, but we’re not preparing for that,” McGuigan said. “We’re preparing for the best Lawrence Okolie and that’s the one that I feel was in my gym for the last three years.

“He’s got multiple strengths. He’s six foot five, with a six foot nine reach. Can punch with either hand. He’s physical. He’s athletic.

“I believe he is the best cruiserweight on the planet right now, but for every strength there’s a weakness and we will devise a plan to beat him.”

There was plenty of respect between Lawrence Okolie and Chris Billam-Smith as they went head to head at the press conference ahead of their fight on May 27

Okolie’s defense against Light marked a return to the ring after more than a year out, and with a new trainer in his corner in Steward.

With the ring rust shaken off, he expects to be ready for Billam-Smith – and a fight with an extra personal dimension.

“I’m coming and I mean really coming because this is bigger than just me and Chris,” Okolie said. “Obviously there is Shane there as well, a great coach who helped me win a world title, so there’s so much at stake on a personal level for me as well.

Mikael Lawal and Isaac Chamberlain had to be separated during their fiery head-to-head at the press conference ahead of their fight on May 27

“In the same way they will be training hard, I will be doing even more to show them who I am.”

Billam-Smith has fast acquired a reputation for being one of the most exciting fighters in Britain. He has won British, Commonwealth and European cruiserweight titles. With an impassioned crowd in Bournemouth roaring him on, in 2022 he beat Isaac Chamberlain in a Fight of the Year contender and levelled Armend Xhoxhaj to record a spectacular knockout win.

Facing someone who he respects so much holds no fear.

Chris Billam-Smith says he does not fear Lawrence Okolie as he looks forward to realizing his dream of performing at the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth

“I like Lawrence, he is a funny guy, but he’s got something I want,” he said. “I think we probably did over 300 rounds sparring together. They were learning curves for both of us. We both learned a lot sparring and we both built ourselves up to world-level fighters, by doing plenty of other work as well, but also the work we did with each other.

“That’s why this makes for an exciting fight. No one that’s boxed Lawrence has done as many rounds with him as I have. I don’t fear anyone.”

Their bout is set for Bournemouth on May 27th

World Boxing Organization (WBO) cruiserweight champion Lawrence Okolie is scheduled to fight his former training partner Chris Billam-Smith on May 27th in the defense of his world title, BOXXER have announced.

According to British boxers UK, the bout is billed for the Billam-Smith’s beloved Bournemouth FC’s Dean Court.

Okolie successfully defended his title for the third time third against mandatory challenger David Light in Manchester last week.

The 30-year-old British fighter of Nigerian bloodline comfortably outpointed his opposition and was adjudged winner on all three judge’s scorecards, shifting attention afterwards to arranging a gigantic local summer showdown.

On his part, Billam-Smith posted a breathtaking performance in his  fifth-round blow-out of Armend Xhoxhaj at the Bournemouth International Centre as he sharpened his skills for a first shot at a world title.

It would be recalled that the man from Bournemouth has not hidden his ambition to take on Dean Court and intimated Sky Sports his openness to a clash with Okolie not long ago.

Both fighters recently trained under the guidance of Shane McGuigan before Okolie decided to depart for Sugar Hill Steward’s camp ahead of his clash against Light.

Mikael Lawal is also billed to fight with Isaac Chamberlain in his defense of his British cruiserweight marble on the undercard.

Sacked Chelsea coach Graham Potter’s replacement, Julian Nagelsmann, is scheduled to arrive Stamford Bridge before pre-season.

According to the Guardian, Chelsea want their next manager to arrive by the start of pre-season, suggesting the Blues are in no rush to make an immediate decision, with owner Todd Boehly keen to learn from the Potter experience as he targets a brighter future.

Potter was let go by Chelsea, relinquishing his six-months reign over the coaching staff at Stamford Bridge on Sunday night, just over 24 hours after a Premier League home game defeat to Aston Villa.

At the moment, three serious candidates are vying to take over from Potter – with former Bayern Munich boss Nagelsmann in top consideration for the job.

The London club decided to sack the 47-year-old on Sunday night, making their decision public in a statement confirming his departure. Bruno Salter, who was in Potter’s coaching staff, was picked as interim head coach.

Chelsea hired Potter with the hope he would develop into the role when they fired Thomas Tuchel and hired the former Brighton boss last September.

However, Chelsea failed to take off under Potter, ultimately leading to his on Sunday as Todd Boehly decided to let him go.

Klopp wants his Liverpool contract terminated

According to ‘The West Australian,’ Jurgen Klopp has wondered out-aloud why he is still Liverpool boss, as Premier League clubs shed their managers with the season about to screech to its end.

Chelsea fired Graham Potter, Sunday, while occupying the 11th spot in the English Premier League (EPL), log just hours separating Leicester City’s release of Brendan Rodgers from his contracts.

Tottenham Hotspur sent Antonio Conte packing late last month, while 12th-placed Crystal Palace dispatched Patrick Vieira ending his Managerial role with them.

Klopp was employed by Liverpool in 2015, however, in spite leading them to Premier League and Champions League wins, the German is now under severe pressure, with the Anfield side occupying a comparatively undignified eighth position in the Premier League standings – eight points adrift the top four following their humiliating 4-1 mauling by Manchester City on Friday.

“The elephant in the room is probably, why am I still sitting here in this crazy world? Last man standing,” Klopp narrated to reporters before Liverpool’s match with Chelsea on Tuesday.

“(Chelsea and Leicester) are not in the spots where they expect to be. I respect (Potter and Rodgers) a lot. Really good people and fantastic managers, both of them. But things can go wrong.

“We all accept that part of the business, but that’s it. Conte was last week, (Bayern Munich coach Julian) Nagelsmann and now these two.

“The season is in a decisive part, people are afraid of maybe not reaching their targets.”

Nagelsmann was sent packing by Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich during the recent international break with his side one point behind leaders Borussia Dortmund in the German football league.

The Premier League racked-up a record 12 managerial terminations this season alone, which Klopp related to as an “awful number”.

“It is how it is. Some clubs are under-achieving, definitely us too,” Klopp added.

“There are expectations out there, rightly so, and if you don’t reach them, then you have to accept the decisions.”

On the question of his own future, the German manager believed that Liverpool have “smart owners” but argued that he would not want to be keep a job due to of his past achievement.

“I’m here to deliver, I’m not here as a talisman or for murals on the walls of houses,” Klopp said.

“I know as well I’m still here because of what happened in the last few years, I don’t like the fact I have to rely on that.”
