Wrestling veteran Vince Russo called out Vince McMahon and made some shocking claims about the WWE Executive Chairman, reports  Subhashish Deb for first Sportz.

Pro wrestling veteran Vince Russo has called out Vince McMahon for being sexist in a recent podcast. He said that the women were in a tough position in the company back then under the former WWE CEO. Russo revealed this in the latest episode of The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, along with former WWE superstar EC3 and host Chris Featherstone.

Vince Russo revealed that women in WWE had it ‘tough’ under Vince McMahon. He further added that no matter how the company treated women, there would always be a place for them. Russo believes that from Dana Brooke to Natalya, all women in the WWE had a tough time under Mr. McMahon. The three men recalled some of the worst gimmicks in pro-wrestling history in the podcast.

Vince Russo was one of the top writers in WWE during the attitude era. In the late 1990s, his clever writing approach helped the company rise dramatically in popularity. In the podcast, the three men discussed some of the worst gimmicks in pro wrestling, and Russo made some shocking claims. The 62-year-old stated that some of these gimmicks that were wrongfully attributed to him were originally creations of Vince McMahon. Russo revealed that when Sable was drawing in views for WWE, McMahon made controversial decisions in her booking to ‘knock her down a few pegs.’

Former WWE star EC3 also shed light on Natalya’s farting gimmick in the company. It was also another example of a controversial Vince McMahon decision. The three men discussed a wide variety of things during the recent podcast.

Vince McMahon’s update on spinal surgery

Some people believe that the injury was because of a neck injury McMahon had back in the 1990s. The WWE Executive Chairman apparently had hip problems as well, and he didn’t get a hip replacement because it would mean giving up big squats. When Mick Foley had his hips replaced several years ago, McMahon encouraged him not to do it because of the squat issue.

According to Wrestling Inc., Vince McMahon’s recent spine surgery lasted four to five hours and was called “life-altering.” He has been going through a hectic year. Mr. McMahon officially rejoined WWE in January after initially leaving the company in July 2022 due to allegations of a hush money scandal.

Former Total Divas star reveals Vince McMahon once had to scrap her explicit storyline involving Rusev and Lana

Former WWE superstar Summer Rae made some shocking revelations about one of her romantic storylines in WWE.

Vince McMahon has been a pivotal figure in WWE for years. However, his creative ideas have not always been appreciated by fans and superstars. Recently, former Total Divas star Summer Rae shed light on her scrapped storyline involving Dolph ZigglerRusev, and Lana. She revealed that Vince McMahon had to scrap their storyline midway.

During a conversation with Chris Van Vliet, Summer Rae spoke about her explicit storyline with Rusev, Dolph Ziggler, and Lana. She revealed that back then, TMZ published the news of Rusev and Lana’s engagement when the storyline was at its peak. As a result, the kayfabe was broken, leaving Vince McMahon furious, and the latter snubbed the whole storyline.

Summer Rae later talked about her tenure in WWE and said that she had fun doing the explicit storyline with Rusev, Lana, and Ziggler. The former Total Divas star stated that they were getting along well and were enjoying the storyline. Summer Rae also revealed that Vince McMahon was also very invested in their storyline and was upset after TMZ published the cover.

Summer Rae has been part of various memorable segments in WWE. She had an incredible time with Fandango on the main roster and became quite popular. However, she retired from pro wrestling a long time ago. The former WWE star is rarely seen in podcasts and interviews.

WWE fans are some of the most passionate fans in pro wrestling. However, sometimes they cross the line from admiration to obsession. Previously, WWE superstar Sonya Deville became the victim of a stalker. Summer Rae has also addressed these issues regarding receiving weird DMs from her fans.

During her conversation with Chris Van Vliet, she stated that she has received a good amount of love from her fans over time. However, some fans have crossed the line of admiration. Summer Rae said that some fans keep sending her a lot of selfies in her DM. “It’s a lot of selfies,” she said.

Furthermore, Rae said there are some fans who have been sending her messages and selfies for five to six years. The former WWE superstar added that although it is not threatening or sexual, it is creepy. Moreover, her DMs include people asking her to come back or complimenting her feat.

Naija Rookie records sack in his first-ever organized football game

Okoye hails from Nigeria by way of NFL’s International Player Pathway program, Scott Thompson reports for Fox News.

Los Angeles Chargers defensive lineman CJ Okoye got his first sack in the NFL when he took down Los Angeles Rams quarterback Stetson Bennett late in the fourth quarter of their preseason Week 1 matchup.

While this normally wouldn’t be that big of a deal, the Chargers’ sideline was going ballistic when Okoye wrapped Bennett’s legs up and brought him to the turf.

Why? This wasn’t just Okoye’s first NFL sack in his first NFL game. It was his first organized football game of his entire life.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Okoye hails from Nigeria and is a part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway program that allows athletes from various countries around the globe to try out for franchises around the league for a spot on their 53-man roster (or practice squad) during training camp. Okoye also participated in the NFL London Combine.

He’s certainly a long shot to make the roster when camp breaks before Week 1, but Okoye’s athleticism was on full display when he was rushing the passer. He ran a stunt to perfection, rushing to the right side of the offensive line.

It’s a historic performance. This guy, as you guys know, his story is remarkable.

The international pathway program, this guys never played in a game. For him in his first NFL game to have a sack… that’s what the NFL’s about!

— Brandon Staley

As Bennett was scrambling out of danger, he didn’t see Okoye barreling in behind him. A perfectly timed dive and wrap of the legs secured the sack.

His Chargers teammates were waving towels, jumping up and down and turned the sideline into a party when he finally got back to it.

“It’s a historic performance,” Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said after the game of Okoye. “This guy, as you guys know, his story is remarkable. The International Pathway Program, this guy’s never played in a game. For him to go in his first NFL game to have a sack, our guys said if he gets a sack we were going to get a 15-yard [celebration penalty].”

“You saw that sideline,” he continued. “That’s what the NFL’s about, great stories like that – game ball for CJ and a memorable moment for our whole team.”

Okoye’s moment caught the eyes of many, including New York Giants great Osi Umenyiora, who commented on his moment.

“First football game of his entire life. He gets a sack. You can’t make this stuff up. @chargers Sideline going crazy. Only in the @NFL,” Umenyiora wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The Chargers ended up beating the Rams big, 34-17, to secure their first victory of the preseason.

As roster battles continue to unfurl and get tougher by the week, Chargers fans will definitely be keeping a sharp eye on what Okoye can do moving forward.

Referee boss apologizes to denied Wolves

Man United gifted another dubious win through a referee’s erroneous officiating

Wolves were incensed after Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana was not penalised

  • United escaped with a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford in their Premier League opener
  • Click here to watch Mail Sport’s brand new show ‘It’s All Kicking Off’ in full

Gary O’Neil claimed he had received an apology from referees’ boss Jon Moss after Wolves were somehow denied a late penalty that would have given them a point against Manchester United, Tom Collomosse reports for The Daily Mail.

Deep into stoppage time, United goalkeeper Andre Onana tried to claim Pedro Neto’s cross but instead clattered Wolves substitute Sasa Kalajdzic, knocking him to the ground.

Referee Simon Hooper did not give a spot-kick and even though the decision was checked, VAR Michael Salisbury upheld it, with Hooper’s original call bizarrely not deemed a clear and obvious error.

A furious O’Neil was booked for his reaction and then detailed his conversation with Moss, who manages the Premier League referees.

‘I’ve spoken to Jon Moss and fair play to him, he apologized, said it was a blatant penalty and that it should have been given,’ said O’Neil. ‘It probably made me feel worse.

‘When you know you were right about something it makes you feel worse about leaving a game with nothing.’

Wolves had a number of grievances with officials last season and had at least one apology from referees’ chief Howard Webb. O’Neil added: ‘I don’t think the officials are trying to favour one side.

‘I just think it’s human nature. If there’s a decision you’re not sure about, everyone would be impacted by the Old Trafford crowd and the fact it’s Manchester United.

‘That’s why I think VAR should be able to help more in those situations. Before I spoke to Jon Moss I was told it was not a clear and obvious error.

‘It looked like the keeper nearly took our centre-forward’s head off. If you go for the ball and clatter the player that hard, it is a penalty.

‘At first I thought the referee was coming over to look at the screen but unfortunately he booked me and not Onana for smashing our centre-forward.

‘I understand the rules [of sticking with the on field decisions as much as possible], but I don’t fully accept it. Hopefully over the season we get our fair share of decisions.’

Had they been given a penalty and scored, it would have been the least Wolves deserved.

United’s midfield was overrun at times, though the visitors paid for their wastefulness when Raphael Varane headed home in the 76th minute.

United manager Erik ten Hag was critical of his side but after starting last season with two defeats, he was relieved to get off the mark.

‘It was a tough game,’ he said. ‘The start of the season is always difficult and we can be much better on the ball. But we fought for our lives and we survived and got three points.

On the penalty he added: ‘When VAR looked at it and decided not to give it, of course we were pleased. Andre didn’t interfere and it’s about the decision of the VAR and the referee.’

NFF boss praises first lady for reception of Nigeria’s FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 heroines

Canada, Nigeria tie in their 2023 World Cup opener: How Chiamaka Nnadozie came up big for Super Falcons - The AthleticGoalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie takes a goal kick against Canada during the Group stage of the FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia

By Rasheed Adewuyi

President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has commended the wife of Nigeria’s president, distinguished senator Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, CON, for hosting players and officials of the Super Falcons, following the team’s historic performance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, dubbed Australia and New Zealand 2023.

The First Lady treated the three available players of the Super Falcons and their officials to a state reception at the State House, Abuja on Monday morning. In attendance were team captain Onome Ebi, midfield lynchpin Christy Ucheibe, and goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi, as well as a number of NFF technical and administrative officials such as, the NFF president, NFF 1st vice president (Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu), and the general secretary (Dr. Mohammed Sanusi).

At the occasion, distinguished senator Tinubu hailed the Super Falcons for their outing at the biggest stage possible, saying their hard work, focus and determination were seen and appreciated by Nigerians at home and in the diaspora. She did not mince words, adding: “They made Nigerians proud with their scintillating football and deserve to be honored.”

She also prayed for quick recovery for the mother of goalkeeper and on-field captain Chiamaka Nnadozie, who underwent medical operation last week. The first-choice goalkeeper was therefore unable to attend the occasion as scheduled.

Gusau said the first lady’s gesture was very encouraging and would certainly spur other National Teams, indeed other sports teams, to give their all when representing Nigeria at international level.

“This kind gesture by the first lady is heartwarming, and I must say that it is a super-incentive that will stimulate our National Teams to give their very best whenever they’re contesting major matches and championships going forward.

“The first lady said very nice words to the players and they were quite happy. We thank her for the very kind gesture.”

Also in attendance were the wife of the vice president, Hajia Nana Shettima and the wife of the senate president, Mrs. Ekaette Akpabio.

Unbeaten in regulation time in all four matches they played at the World Cup, the Super Falcons exited the tournament after a penalty shootout defeat by England in the Round of 16, Monday of last week.

No regret leaving Germany-Nigeria forward

Taiwo Awoniyi’s childhood dream of playing in England now fulfilled with Nottingham Forest move

By Rasheed Adewuyi

Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi has said that he has no regret leaving Union Berlin FC of Germany for Nottingham Forest FC of England.

Awoniyi joined Nottingham Forest for a club record fee of 17.5 million pounds in the summer of 2022.

In 2021 /22, Awoniyi scored 20 goals and assisted five times across 43 appearances in all competitions as he helped guide Union Berlin to a fifth place finish, securing a spot in the Europa League.

Speaking to Fox Soccer Xtra, the Nigeria forward explained that he has always been dreaming of playing in the Premier League for many years adding that he couldn’t say no when Nottingham Forest approached him.

“Why should I regret that Union Berlin is doing well after I left the club? I think I made the right move because It’s a dream come true for me. With or without me, Union Berlin will continue to do well due to their fantastic organization” he said.

“Every league is tough. The best way to excel in any country is to prepare yourself ahead of the task. Scoring one of the goals that saved Nottingham Forest from relegation against Arsenal always makes me happy because it helped us to maintain our premier league status.”

When asked if he would like to become a pastor at the end of his career, Awoniyi said: ” To be honest with you, I don’t think I’m at that stage yet because my philosophy is that God is the greatest. I have to tell the whole world that he is the answer to everything. I have my flaws, I am a sinner as well but for me, God is the greatest.”

Awoniyi was Nottingham Forest top scorer last season after scoring 10 Premier league goals in 17 starts and will hope that he can improve on the tally with enough time this season.

Entries for the competition will end on or before August 16th with each participating AthIete to provide his or her birth certificate as pre-selection requirements for participation.

According to the technical Adviser to Gombe State AthIetics boss, Prince Simon Ayuba, the 2-day AthIetics trial Competitions will bring together for the first time all Youth AthIetes from 11 LGAs to be selected for the National Youth Games.

Ayuba assures that the trials would be bigger than the Inter-Primary Schools AthIetics Championship which only featured one local government area held in July, 2023 on the same venue.

“This is going to be bigger and better, thanks to the GAA Chairman Hon. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe who in his magnanimity had continued to sponsor these Championships.

Prince Ayuba however pleaded with companies, philanthropists, NGOs to assist to discover talents in the State through Sponsorship of Competitions and endorsement of Athletes.

The GAA Chairman had earlier promised to do all in his capacity to assist in talents hunt in Gombe to provide future means of livelihood to talented school kids, pull indigent children and families off the streets through sports.

“Gombe must not lag behind in sports, States like Delta, Edo, Lagos, Imo, Bayelsa etc. are today harvesting talents they developed years back in AthIetics, football, gymnastics, etc. Why can’t we emulate them and develop ours instead of poaching already made talents?

Gombe State and the entire North East Zone can do it and I have started and no going back” , said Gara Gombe

NFF calls out FIFPRO for intruding

‘FIFPRO’s statement is mere storm in a tea-cup’ says the Nigerian federation

Supporting Professional Football Players Worldwide - FIFPRO World Players' UnionThe Nigerian federation accuses the world professional players’ union for intrusiveness

By Rasheed Adewuyi

The Nigeria Football Federation has dismissed as nothing more than a storm in a team cup, a statement issued by the world body of professional footballers, FIFPRO on Tuesday calling on the Federation to pay players of the Super Falcons what they are owed.

The Federation reiterated that it had an earlier agreement with the players on what they would earn at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, but world football-governing body, FIFA came up with a new template that guaranteed more money for the players and which made players of all participating teams happier.

The NFF insisted it does need FIFPRO shouting from far off to pay Nigerian players what they had been promised by both FIFA and the NFF, dismissing the body’s statement as a mere relevance-seeking message.

It recalled that its officials sat down and agreed with the players on what to pay them, but FIFA came up with a juicier package and they were all happy about it. If they had beaten England, for instance, and reached the quarter-finals, the NFF disclosed that the players would have been entitled to $90,000, and not the $60,000 each player will be getting now. A place in the semi-finals would have guaranteed at least $165,000 each (for 4th place, and $180,000 each for 3rd place) for the players.

The Federation praised the team for its efforts at reaching the Round of 16 and standing up firmly to world number four England on the turf, as well as its heroics in the group phase. It noted that not losing a single match out of four in regulation time is a remarkable record by an African team.

The nation’s football-governing body stated that it has no issues with the players; it had assured them before the World Cup that they would be paid the couple of friendly matches and qualifying matches for which they were being owed appearance fees and bonuses respectively. It pledged to pay the money once the World Cup money is paid.

The NFF also charged FIFPRO to stop playing the ostrich and stand up to its real responsibilities, calling on the body to address the real issues. The Federation revealed that after all these years, FIFPRO does not have an affiliate body in Nigeria. It challenged the body to come to Nigeria and set up an affiliate body that can always and legitimately speak on behalf of Nigerian players, and made up of individuals who understand the culture and dynamics of the African environment.

Super Falcons progress at the ongoing FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup tournament has been halted by European champions, the Lionesses following their 2-4 defeat by England’s Women national side via the penalty shootout rule at the Lang Park Stadium, Brisbane, Australia on Monday.

Nigeria’s sad loss came in their round of 16 game against the English team and now pushes the nine-time African Women’s Nations Cup winners out of the competition, allowing the Lionesses to advance to the quarter finals stage of the competition.

England’s win followed a goalless 90′ and another 30′ round of extra play which failed to produce any goals for both sides, and ultimately leading to the eventual shootout that also led to breaking the duck.

Lauren James, England’s breakout star of the tournament, got the game underway, with England playing from the left half to the right end of the field.

From kickoff, It was the Lionesses on the front foot early on. England won a fifth minute corner kick which was taken by Alex Greenwood, but which saw Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie parrying it off to safety.

In the 8th minute of the game, Lucy Bronze’s throw-in was redirected by the Super Falcons for a corner kick to England as the Lionesses continued to press their dominance so far. Alex Greenwood’s corner kick play brought out another save from Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Nnadozie, parried it away yet again.

It is obvious this early on that England was finding success using the wings to launch attacks with Lauren Hemp operating from the left, and Bronze, from across the field on the right side, with both players seeing plenty of the ball in the opening exchanges. The Lionesses centre-backs having searched them out each time with long thrusts upfield.

With 10 minutes into the game, Christy Ucheibe’s cross gets pushed behind for Nigeria’s first corner kick of the game by Mary Earps. Nicole Payne takes the corner but England easily clears the effort.

From the 10th minute, the Super Falcons looked good on the transition. Nigeria won another corner in the 13th minute of the game, this time on the left. Alozie’s powerful header from the corner kick is blocked by England’s Alessia Russo.

The Super Falcons almost scores in the 18th minute of the game. Ashleigh Plumptre’s ambitious short down the left crashes against the cross-bar. The ball stays alive for Nigeria and Super Falcons continued to put the Lionesses on the back pedal as Alozie draws out yet another crisp save from Earps.

Earps has kept the Lionesses in the game with her brilliant saves so far. The English are lucky not going behind. Now into the 28th minute as Rachel Daly’s volley from a corner is saved by Nnadozie who blocks the attempt from close range.

Then, in the 31′, Daly is barged over in the box and England is initially awarded what looks like a soft penalty by the referee for Ucheibe’s shove on the English player in the back off Greenwood’s free kick.

However, VAR review overturned the referee’s decision after the central referee was summoned to the TV monitor to take a closer look, and after such a lengthy deliberation, the arbiter eventually changes her decision against a penalty kick.

It took some brave defending by England’s pair of Jess Carter and Millie Bright to keep Nigeria at bay in the 37th minute, but the Lionesses are again left on the back foot as Super Falcons regained momentum following the overruled penalty call.

Nnadozie’s clearance from a corner fell kindly for James on the edge of the box in the 39th minute, but her side-footed volley sailed well over the bar.

With 45 +1 minutes gone, England’s midfielders Keira Walsh and Georgia Stanway’s influence on the game continues to grow, and are now purring on the Lionesses’ waves of attack on Nigeria, but Super Falcons’ dynamic backline are just as resolute as ever as they held off the English forays from the channels, to go into half time on a goalless scoreline note.

Nigeria restarted the game in the second half and in the 47′, Uchenna Kanu’s looping header at the far post crashes against the bar and goes behind. Earps initially appeared to have covered the attempt, but there are now worrying signs emerging for England. They are beginning to concede too much space to Nigeria on the left side of their field to put balls in from there.

In the 51st minute, England’s Millie Bright heads behind from a Rasheedat Ajibade’s cross for another corner to Super Falcons, but England easily deals with it.

Alex Greenwood’s free-kick in the 56th minute located Russo, whose header only goes wide. Set pieces appears to be England’s likely route to breaking down Nigeria’s resolve as Super Eagles are beginning to look vulnerable to Greenwood’s deliveries, as Super Falcons get rattled from set pieces.

Finally, Asisat Oshoala is on for Ifeoma Onumonu as Nigeria shows that they are really keen on going for a win.

On 60′ now. Stanway’s cross found Daly, whose volley goes wide as she made quite a remarkable contact with the ball, but her shot lacked direction.

Now into the 66′ as Lauren Hemp’s effort is blocked for a corner. Russo’s influence on the game has grown in leaps and bounds, having dropped deeper. However, Stanway’s corner kick delivery was rather poor and goes straight out for a Super Falcons’ goal-kick.

By the 72nd minute, Nigeria’s confidence in the game is clearly showing. Just as England have looked undecided at times, Nigeria have played with a remarkable composure. Even at times when Super Falcons are on the retreat, Nigeria have not shown fear or appeared on edge. Their body language and strength off the ball has been sterner stuff and very remarkable.

In the 77th minute of the game, Daly’s header from an England corner looked certain for the net but Nnadozie’s reflex save ensured that scores are still on parity. What a sensational save by the Super Falcon.

In the 84th minute, James picks up am initial yellow for her audacious stamp on a downed Alozie’s back, but VAR was quick to call the referee to the monitor for a closer look. The referee returned to change her earlier yellow card to James to a red card. Out goes the England striker.

However, Super Falcons were unable to make their one player advantage count as the scores remained 0-0 after 90 minutes, and following another extra time of 30 minutes play.

In the penalty shootout, while Bethany England, Daly, Greenwood, and Chloe Kelly, were all successful from their spot kick for the Lionesses, only the duo of Rasheedat Ajibade, and Christy Ucheibe, were able to score for Nigeria from their spot kick, with Desire Oparanozie and Michelle Alozie missing their spot kicks.

For England though, only Stanway missed her penalty kick effort for the Lionesses who now goes through to the next rounds of competition after a very gritty round of 16 victory against the Africans.

Despite several meetings between the pair, no agreement has been struck to extend the Nigeria striker’s stay in Naples. Napoli have incessantly telegraphed their aim to keep their prized forward by offering him a renegotiated deal with an extended end date and most likely, a new buyout clause.

The main aim of the Club being to shield the establishment’s prime goalscorer from preying eyes the world over, who may get desperate to lure and extricate the Nigerian from the Napoli football project.

Napoli wants to keep the Nigerian on a long-term contract and protect their interest in their prime star from the plethora of serious potential buyers from across the Globe. However, so far, Napoli’s desires regarding Osimhen are being fulfilled in this regard, even as talks between Club and the player’s group have failed to produce the Neapolitans’ desired results.

The Partenopei are right to want an extended deal with their 24-year-old striker as current Serie A champions for the purpose of keeping to the Club’s focus of remaining a force in both Italian and European football.

Moreso, we are talking about a Club like Napoli who once owned the rare pedigree of being the side that helped place one of the Planet’s most renowned players- late Diego Armando Maradona-under world football klieg lights in the 1980s and beyond.

Aside that, Società Sportiva Calcio Napoli S.p.A. are not an ordinary club, as Gli Azzurre are also the current holders of the scudetto, a feat delivered largely out of Osimhen’s prolific goal scoring skills and marksmanship.

The Nigerian accounted for 26 goals in 38 match days outing in the 2022/2023 season, and leading the club to end their 33-year-old Serie A winless record.

Also, as Italy’s Serie A champions, SSC Napoli are to going to be the cynosure of all eyes when considering Italy’s chances of landing next season’s UEFA champions league trophy.

Now that Osimhen has been able to deliver the Scudetto to De Laurentis’ Napoli, next on the agenda for the Napoli president would be that the Nigeria forward assist his side to land the Champions League crown for the Parthenopeans.

Manchester United will have to pay club-record fee for Victor Osimhen

To reactivate Napoli’s past glory remains the main goal for the coming of De Laurentiis to Naples. For these reasons and more, the Neapolitans will not want to lose a player like Osimhen just out of the need for better fiscal balancing considerations.

It would certainly require an agreement of paying a ridiculously high figure from any side in the world for Napoli to allow Osimhen out of Naples.

De Laurentiis’ shrewdness has made him wise to the fact that few sides in Europe can afford to part with Є200M for a player like Osimhen, who in the eyes of the continent’s transfer negotiators is still seen as a dark horse, despite his most recent success in Serie A.

Sides like Manchester United and Chelsea, who are keen to have his services, could be willing to part with an amount in the region of Є80-Є100 million, but few football analysts expect an English Club side to pay anything above that for a greenhorn like Osimhen.

Such a thought is hard to fathom. But the world of football is saturated with risk takers and dreamers, so anything is still possible,

For the same reason, a side like PSG will not stretch into its pockets beyond Є120M to acquire the forward as current overtures from Les Parisiens have suggested, no matter how deep the pockets of PSG truly is.

After all, No-one knows what Osimhen will bring with him to a new terrain considering that the Nigerian forward failed to deliver in Germany, though he has been prolific with scoring goals in other climes after Bundesliga.

The rider that seems to dog the Nigerian remains; if he could not cut it in the rugged German football, who is certain that Osimhen would fare any better under a more physical football approach like the English Premier League (EPL)?

Also, it appears that Team Osimhen are too scared to press for his transfer from the Club for the same reason that they do not know if their man would continue with his present scoring streak under the physical nature of the EPL or other tougher leagues. Moreover, the Napoli forward has been prone to injuries of recent, so, there are lot to be chewed over by any serious investor over this player.

So, the Napoli president knows that his demand for a ‘scandalous offer’ for Osimhen will perhaps, not likely materialize out of Europe. And with Team Osimhen not pressing for his release despite all the offers poring in from Europe for his services so far exceeding the release clause in his current deal with Napoli, there is nothing anyone can do to make the Napoli boss release him.

Also, note that Napoli has always raised the bar with each given increased offer for their most prized asset from current suitors. With Osimhen seeming reluctant to press for his move from Naples, this cards are all falling into place for Napoli’s aim to keep their prolific striker in Naples.

However, the Napoli owner failed to configure into his renowned shrewd imaginations that lobbyists for Osimhen’s services would somehow extend beyond the confines of Europe. Now enter the play from the billionaires of the Arab World and the ultimate game changer is here.

The current problem for the Napoli president is that there are many clubs if not from Europe, but outside that continent with similar ambitions like his Partenopei, and those prospectors are even far richer and can throw such a ridiculous figure that the Napoli owner has been asking for around for a taking.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar have not hidden their intentions to gain acclaim outside just being known for their wealth and sometimes, outrageous notoriety, but as a major discussion point especially through football.

Qatar has been throwing its oil money around for quite some time and has just hosted the FIFA World Cup successfully, thereby also successfully showcasing its immense potentials to the outside world. The audacious spending is bound to attract competition from fellow rich Arabian nations in due time and season.

As if right on cue, on the heels of Qatar’s World Cup hosting feat, and in one of the most outrageous football movements of current times, Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo transferred to Saudi club Al-Nassr on January 1, 2023, after completing a deal that would be valid until 2025.

The shocker is that, just as most people in the Arab zone know Al-Nassr, the Saudi club is not as famous globally. This shows that there is a major movement to build Saudi Arabia’s football and money has never been a problem in this very kingdom.

Sky Sports recently reported that the Partenopei received an offer of €140M ($154M) from Al Hilal for the services of the Nigerian forward following the protracted negotiation of his contract extension between Napoli and Osimhen’s group.

With only two seasons left on Osimhen’s present agreement with his Club, the Saudi Premier League (RSL) Al Hilal are also reported to have offered a captivating €1M per-week wage ($57.2M per season) to convince the Nigerian to leave Naples for Riyadh. This prospective wage offer will hike Osimhen’s weekly wage at Naples from the princely sum of €76,000 ($84,000) by a kingly colossal 1215%. Who in their right mind could pass off such a sudden change in personal fortune?

The lure of money and the need for competitive football for a young footballer on the ascendancy is now fully on a collision course. With a nifty Club president set to exploit a situation that is ripe for his selfish picking, who knows where this wind will blow?

Osimhen will sooner than later realize that a football career is only as lucrative as how fit a player is at any given moment. Also, he should know that the value of a player is only as pricey as his last outing, and that, sooner or later, the career of every player with a name and a shape must come to an end either due to injury or old age.

Just as injuries comes to footballers unannounced and terminates their careers, a player’s career can crash to a halt with just such an occurrence. The Nigerian would do himself a word of good by leaving Naples for a greener pastures, even if it means playing less competitive football in the expense of a sumptuous remunerations. Who cares? Or do you?
