CAF Announces Record European Broadcast Partnerships for TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025

The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) has announced a record 20 media rights partnerships across over 30 European territories for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (“AFCON”) Morocco 2025, ensuring unprecedented visibility and accessibility and bringing the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 to millions of football fans across Europe.
The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 will kick-off on Sunday, 21 December 2025.
This record number of broadcast partnerships across Europe reflects the growing global appeal and commercial strength of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations and African football.
The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 will showcase the very best of African football talent and passion, and this expansion ensures that millions of football fans across Europe, including Africa’s diaspora can experience the AFCON live. These agreements mark a major step forward in CAF’s strategy to grow the reach, visibility, and value of African football worldwide.
Building on the landmark deal with Channel 4 in the United Kingdom – the first time all 52 AFCON matches will be on free-to-air in the UK, CAF has secured a new deal in Spain with Movistar.
The move to one of Spain’s leading sports broadcasters with extensive reach, along with the country’s strong Moroccan diaspora and deep connections between CAF AFCON and Spanish football, is expected to drive substantial viewership.
In a major expansion, CAF has reached a new agreement with free-to-air broadcaster ERT to bring AFCON back to Greek screens and ensuring nationwide coverage for the first time in many years. Additionally, the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 will be shown for the first time on free-to-air in Norway through a new deal with VGTV.
Meanwhile, the likes of Sport Italia and Ziggo, which delivered strong viewership for the last TotalEnergies CAF AFCON in Italy and the Netherlands, respectively, are expected to drive even more engagement and audience growth, with significant Moroccan communities in both countries and several Moroccan stars in the Eredivisie.
SportDigital is also expected to continue delivering high viewership in the DACH Region across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

- Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Manchester United’s Bryan Mbeumo, Omar Marmoush of Manchester City and West Ham United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka amongst the Premier League stars expected to take part.
- Tournament takes place in Morocco between Sunday 21 December 2025 and Sunday 18 January 2026
Channel 4 has won exclusive rights to broadcast the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025, marking the first time the tournament will be available to watch in for free in the UK.
The TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 kicks off on Sunday 21 December 2025 in Morocco and will see 24 teams contesting 52 matches across nine stadiums. All matches will be live across Channel 4’s network, airing on Channel 4, E4, 4Seven, Streaming and Channel 4 Sport YouTube.
CAF General Secretary, Véron Mosengo-Omba said: “The agreement with between CAF and Channel 4 is historic in many ways and it ensures that the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 will live in each and every household in the UK for the first time in the history of the competition.
“It affirms AFCON’s position as one of the prime and much-sought after assets in global football. On behalf of CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, I welcome Channel 4 to the CAF family and we look forward to a succesful partnership that will deliver growth for both parties.”
Pete Andrews, Head of Sport, Channel 4 said: “Bringing the excitement and drama of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations exclusively to UK Free-to-Air television for the first time is such a compelling proposition for Channel 4. So many Premier League stars will be playing in the tournament and having Liverpool legend Mo Salah on Channel 4 on Boxing Day, when traditional Premier League football coverage has been reduced elsewhere, means football fans will still be able to get their thrill of festive fixtures.”
The TotalEnergies CAF AFCON 2025 will feature a host of Premier League stars, including Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah and Manchester City striker Omar Marmoush representing Egypt, the tournament’s most decorated side. Egypt take on Zimbabwe on Monday, 22 December at 5pm and South Africa on Friday,26 December at 3pm.
Other Premier League favourites expected to take part in the tournament include the Manchester United trio of Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon), Amad Diallo (holders Côte d’Ivoire) and Noussair Mazraoui (Morocco); Everton’s Senegalese duo Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye; Fulham’s Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, both playing for Nigeria; West Ham defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka (DR Congo); Crystal Palace attacker Ismaila Sarr (Senegal) and Wolves defender Emmanuel Agbadou (Côte d’Ivoire).
