Can Nigeria’s clean sheet queen, Chiamaka Nnadozie, extend her current record at WAFCON?

Must read

Churning out clean sheets is not a new feat for Nigeria’ women’s national team goalkeeping sensation, Chiamaka Nnadozie.

The expectation is whether Nnadozie can maintain her ongoing clean sheet record when the Super Falcons engage hosts, the Lionesses of Atlas on Monday in their WAFCON semi-final play.

Nnadozie extended her clean sheet record to three games out of three at the ongoing women’s African cup of nations (WAFCON) in Super Falcons’ win against the Indomitable Lionesses.

She was not in goal in Nigeria’s 1-2 loss against South Africa in her team’s opening group game as she served out a one match suspension.

The loss to South Africa’s Bayana Bayana remains the only occasion that the Nigerians have conceded any goal at the ongoing WAFCON tournament in Morocco

Nnadozie currently holds the record as the youngest goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet at a FIFA women’s world cup tournament.

Just shy of her nineteenth birthday, she was in the post as Nigeria scored a major 2-0 upset against South Korea Republic in their second Group A encounter at the Stade des Alpes in Grenoble, on Wednesday, June 12, at the 2019 women’s world cup in France.

Aged 18 years and 186 days, Nnadozie was then keeping goals for Rivers Angels back home in Nigeria when she pulled off the upset against South Korean.

In her debut in the French D1 Arkema the following year, Nnadozie helped her team, Paris to a 5-0 thrashing of Issy on Saturday, October 10, 2020.
