La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that England manager Gareth Southgate plans to be at the Dacia Arena with his binoculars to ogle Tammy Abraham and Chris Smalling as Udinese clash with Roma tonight, Edwin Emeanua writes for Sports Joust.
José Mourinho’s Roma tango with Andrea Sottil’s Udinese at the Dacia Arena, in a tie where both players are expected to command starting roles.
Smalling and Abraham each have a goal to their name this far into the season’s campaign.
Bets are off the table that ‘The Special One’ will shuffle his line-up ahead of the impending Europa League group stage encounter against Ludogorets on Thursday.
Abraham was signed into the Giallorossi brand last summer and is the most productive rookie in Roma’s history with 27 goals in 52 games in all appearances.
The Roma attacker was handed his senior England debut by Southgate in 2017, scoring three times in 11 games for ‘The Three Lions’.
Abraham’s last goal for England’s senior national team for men came in a Nations League encounter versus Italy’s ‘The Azzurris’ in June.
Smalling, played his 31st and last game for the Three Lions in 2017.
According to Gazzetta, Abraham is the focus for Southgate’s visit to Dacia Arena, but could also glance over his compatriot who has had an outstanding beginning to the season with Roma.
