Sixty foreign coaches have applied for the vacant Black Stars of Ghana managerial positions ahead of the African cup of Nations qualifier in Match.

Otto Addo resigned after Ghana crashed out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the group stage in Qatar last month.

Ghana Football Association (GFA) communication director Henry Asante Twun says the volume of applications shows that Black Stars is an attractive brand in Africa and other parts of the world.

“You can not play in the world cup and not attract top coaches. Every good manager wants to work with quality players like Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Kamaldeen Suleman, Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, and others playing in the European champions league”, he told Joy FM crew.

Henry, who declined to mention some of the coaches, disclosed that they’re from Europe and South America, adding that Ghana is looking for a coach with a fantastic soccer pedigree and must also be the type that can make bold and meaningful decisions whenever there’s a problem.

Twun added: “We want a coach capable of controlling the dressing room. A coach who will command respect from the players at any time. We need a first-class coach to win the next Afcon for Ghana.”

Sports Joust reliably gathered that Otto Addo quit the job because of interference by top GFA members in Qatar.

Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, ex-Portugal coach Pablo Bento, Serbia manager Dejan Stojanovic, and Saudi Arabia manager Herve Renard have been linked with the Black Stars job.

Ghana will take on Madagascar on March 20, 2023, before wrapping up the Afcon qualifiers with a home game against Central Africa Republic on March 28, 2023.
