Captain Fantastic reaches 200 appearances for Chelsea

By Chelsea FC
Chelsea captain Reece James made his 200th appearance for the Blues in this afternoon’s commanding win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, and marked the occasion by scoring!
A boyhood Chelsea supporter, James started training with the Blues at just six years old. He progressed through our development centre programme and then moved into the Academy ranks at Cobham, where he enjoyed success.
He lifted the FA Youth Cup as Under-18s captain during the 2017/18 campaign and was named Academy Player of the Season. An impressive loan at Wigan Athletic followed before James was integrated into the first-team set-up by Frank Lampard.
A goal on his Chelsea debut was struck against Grimsby Town, and further highlights from an impressive debut season included a memorable equaliser in a 4-4 draw with Ajax in the Champions League.
Reece James | Best Moments 🌟
As our club captain makes his 200th Chelsea appearance, re-live some of Reece James’s best moments in Blue…
James went from strength to strength during his second campaign in the senior squad, establishing himself as one of the world’s standout full-backs. And he ended the 2020/21 season as a Champions League winner after starring in the final victory over Manchester City in Porto.
Having become an integral figure at Stamford Bridge, James was named captain of our men’s team ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. He has worn the armband ever since and proudly lifted the UEFA Conference League and Club World Cup trophies last season.
Congratulations on reaching another Chelsea landmark, Reece!
