Nottingham Forest narrowly beaten by City

Nottingham Forest slipped to a narrow defeat against Manchester City at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon, reports Nottingham Forest FC.
After Omari Hutchinson brought the Reds level following Tijjani Reijnders’ opener, Rayan Cherki netted the winner inside the final 10 minutes.
Sean Dyche’s side are back in action on Tuesday when Everton make the trip to Trentside.
Forest were first to flex their muscles when both Igor Jesus and Morgan Gibbs-White were inches away from Callum Hudson-Odoi’s in-swinging cross on eight minutes, with the ball drifting out of play for a goal kick.
The visitors struggled to break down a resilient Forest rearguard, while the Reds looked threatening on the counter-attack, with Jesus leading the line well against Rúben Dias and Joško Gvardiol.

Clear-cut chances remained few in number, but Forest continued to find space out wide, only to be met with resistance from Pep Guardiola’s defence.
The half-time whistle brought the opening 45 minutes to a close with the scoreline remaining goalless.
Half-time: Forest 0-0 Manchester City
The away side took the lead early in the second half through Reijnders.
John Victor produced a fine save shortly afterwards to deny Rayan Cherki following a maze run, a stop that proved crucial as Forest levelled the scores on 55 minutes.
Hudson-Odoi picked out Jesus on the left flank, who in turn teed up Hutchinson to slide home his first goal in Garibaldi Red.

Forest’s tails were up and the pressure on Gianluigi Donnarumma’s goal began to mount. Neco Williams was denied from the edge of the box by the Italy international before Nicolò Savona fired over from an acute angle on the rebound.
At the other end, John Victor did well to parry a powerful Phil Foden effort as the contest entered its final 15 minutes.
City regained the lead with seven minutes remaining as Cherki fired home a powerful strike from just outside the Forest penalty area to complete the scoring on Trentside.
Forest return to action in just three days’ time, with Everton the visitors to the City Ground.
