Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen could break the British transfer record becoming the most expensive player to play in the English Premier League (EPL) if one of the English clubs jostling for his signature signs him this summer.
A report from Italy says Arsenal FC has rejoined the race to sign the Serie A leading goal scorer despite interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and other top European clubs. So far, Osimen has scored 19 goals in twenty-one matches this season.
According to transfer Guru Fabrizio Romano, Napoli now values Osimhen at €133 million (£120 million), far above Chelsea’s current British transfer record for Enzo Fernandez.
Chelsea paid a whopping one hundred and six million pounds (£106 million) to sign the Argentine from Benfica in January 2023.
“Napoli is unwilling to part with their top striker, so they increased the asking price. Osimhen is a big asset to Napoli. The fans love him, and the management would like to keep him for more years, but at some point, they may have to let go if the price is right, “Fabrizio told Football Picante on Fox sports.
“Mikel Arteta may have changed his mind because Arsenal is showing more interest in signing Osimhhen,” he added.
It should be recalled that Arsenal had earlier declined to pay Ninety million pounds (£90 million) for the former Lille FC striker in the January transfer window.
Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea 2021) £97.5 million, Jack Grealish (Manchester City 2021) £100 million, and Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea 2023) £106 million are the three top British transfers.
