WWE News: Massive Matches Reportedly Added to Friday Night SmackDown In Memphis

It looks like tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown has gotten even more stacked, Fernando Quiles Jr. reports for MMA Knockout Fan Nation.

Tonight’s episode for the blue brand will be held inside the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. “The People’s Champion,” The Rock, will return to what he calls “home.” The Hollywood star and WWE legend first made his mark in the wrestling industry in Memphis, and there’s no telling what “The Brahma Bull” has in store this evening.

If a new report is to be believed, this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown will feature several high-profile matches.

WrestleVotes reports that three unannounced matches are set for tonight’s show. Those reported matches are a singles clash and two WrestleMania 40-tag team title qualifying matches.

The singles match will reportedly be Randy Orton vs. Grayson Waller. Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate of New Catch Republic vs. Pretty Deadly and LWO vs. Legado Del Fantasma are the tag team qualifiers mentioned in the report.

WWE has yet to confirm these matches, but if the report holds, they could be made official before SmackDown goes on the air. The tag team matches have significant implications, as The Judgment Day will defend their Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship against five other teams in a 6-Pack Ladder Match at WrestleMania XL.

The March 18 episode of Monday Night Raw features three tag team qualifying matches. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of The New Day will battle Alpha Academy’s Otis and Akira Tozawa. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa of DIY will take on the Creed Brothers. And The Miz and R-Truth will collide against Indus Sher.

Rey Mysterio returns

Bayley looks for retribution in fight against Dakota Kai

Next week, Bayley will get the chance to gain payback on Dakota Kai, who viciously betrayed two her two weeks ago.

Left with no allies, Bayley plans to go through every member of Damage CTRL before reaching WrestleMania.

With the rest of Damage CTRL backing up Kai, Bayley will need to be on her A-game if she plans on taking down her former friend.

Can Bayley get her road to WrestleMania on track, or will Kai derail The Role Model before she arrives?

Randy Orton looks to strike at Grayson Waller

While having numerous confrontations with Logan Paul and his brass knuckles since the Elimination Chamber Match, Randy Orton has joined forces with another Superstar who has become an enemy of the United States Champion, Kevin Owens. Together, they have brutalized Paul’s associates, Austin Theory and Grayson Waller, with RKOs and Stunners flying in every direction.

The Viper will now take on Waller, and there is no telling what will happen on the turbulent Road to WrestleMania.

Dragon Lee and Santos Escobar to go one-on-one

Dragon Lee and Santos Escobar will meet one-on-one in a matchup between two of the blue brand’s best Superstars.

Escobar has been nearly unstoppable since reforming Legado del Fantasma alongside Angel, Berto, and Elektra Lopez. Still, a returning Rey Mysterio thwarted his beatdown of Carlito and the rest of The LWO. After his exciting return, Mysterio’s friend Lee will step up to the challenge of shutting Escobar down immediately on FOX at 8/7 C!

New Catch Republic takes on Pretty Deadly in a WrestleMania Qualifying Match

Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate will take on Elton Prince and Kit Wilson in a WrestleMania XL Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Qualifying Match.

New Catch Republic and Pretty Deadly are looking to get one step closer to the WWE Tag Team Title Six-Pack Ladder Match at WrestleMania, but they’ll have to win this bout to do so.

Which team will come out on top? Tune in to Friday Night SmackDown TONIGHT on FOX at 8/7 C to find out!

The Rock will be live in Memphis tonight!

One week after receiving a “receipt” in the form of an unexpected slap from Cody Rhodes, The Rock is set to return to SmackDown tonight.

As The Road to WrestleMania comes barreling through Memphis, The Rock will be thinking about the slap heard around the world and the WrestleMania Saturday tag team main event pitting himself and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns against The American Nightmare and World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins.

That high-stakes match will determine whether The Head of the Table’s title showdown against Rhodes on WrestleMania Sunday will be Bloodline-free or Bloodline rules.

What will The Great One do heading into The Showcase of the Immortals? Find out tonight at 8/7 C on FOX.
