Marco Silva aims to exorcise the ghost of Aston Villa’s eleven years unbeaten spell against Fulham at Villa Park on Sunday.

The Fulham manager was the study of confidence, Friday, during his Pre-Aston Villa press conference where he reeled out his mission ahead of the away trip.

The Fulham boss hopes to supplant Unai Emery’s side while adding one more milestone to his glory chest-three successive triumphs for the first time since January 2023.

“It’s a massive, massive one for us,” Silva said. “Massive game for us, firstly because it’s the next one.

“We come from back to back wins – okay, they were both at home, but it’s very difficult to achieve these type of things in the Premier League, and to have a chance to go and to fight to have the third one is massive for us.

“And the other aspect that is going to be massive, is the quality of the opposition, too. It’s been, so far, a tough place for us to go.

“I know that everybody’s talking about how it’s not the best start for them, but we all know the quality they have. It is a team that, with Unai, has been able to play always European competitions, because they have been doing something very good, even Champions League football, too.

“Of course, they didn’t start the way they wanted, but it’s a tough place for us. And when you have these type of games that have been tough for us, there’s always an option for us to change it.

“We had some places that, last season, we changed completely the results for Fulham Football Club, and we want to do the same again this season. Aston Villa is a good example – it’s been tough for us, but there’s always an opportunity for us to change what we did the last few seasons.

“We are growing, we are in a better place right now than, for example, one month ago, I really believe. I think the results and the performances, they have been showing that, and we have to go with confidence in ourselves. Of course, respecting the quality they have.

“The place that we go is a lovely place to play football, tough for the opposition side, but it’s a lovely place to play football, against a very good side, very well managed, but we have to be confident in ourselves and keep doing our maximum actions for us to get the third win in a row.”
