What’s holding back Sasha Banks and Naomi Making their WWE rumored Comeback?

0
While the holding-back game of the rumoured WWE comeback for Sasha Banks and Naomi continues, the former has altered her appearance yet again.
At the premiere of “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” in Los Angeles on Monday night, Banks splashed photos of herself and Naomi. Both women walked out of WWE on May 16. Banks also said “Hi” to Mark Ruffalo, a star on the upcoming Disney+ series through her post.
Earlier this week, Banks unveiled her plans to change her look to a blonde/balayage via Instagram Stories earlier in the week, also soliciting from her followers their knowledge of a Los Angeles-based excellent hairstylist.
Wrestling Inc. writer, Sai Mohan reports that Banks had previously changed her hairstyle to add the colors yellow and red to her signature blue and green streaks.
It is widely believed that Banks and Naomi are on their way back to WWE. During the recent episode of his “Sunday Night’s Main Event” podcast, Dave Meltzer reported that “it’s just a question of which week” WWE plans to bring back the former Women’s Tag Team Champions, and not a matter of if.

Alexa Bliss & Asuka advance in WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament

0

One of the only established teams in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament, Nikki A.S.H. & Doudrop, had their first round match-up against Alexa Bliss & Asuka on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. Despite being the only established team beforehand, they were massive underdogs writes  Geno Mrosko of Cageside seats.

Consider: Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair got an entrance to support Bliss & Asuka before Nikki & Doudrop ever even hit the scene.

Sure enough, the match, while given the appearance of being competitive, was never really in doubt for the babyface duo. In the end, Doudrop tapped to Asuka while Bliss fought off Nikki.

Bliss & Asuka now advance to the semifinals, where they will meet IYO SKY & Dakota Kai for the right to advance to the final. It will be a preview of the upcoming Clash at the Castle event, where the two sides will be involved in a six-woman tag match.

First Semifinal Match Set In WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament

0
One of WWE’s hottest rivalries will intersect with the tournament for the company’s vacant Women’s Tag Team Championship, reports Wrestling Inc.’s writer, Matthew Carlins.

Alexa Bliss and Asuka advanced to the semifinals with a win over Nikki A.S.H. and Doudrop on Monday night’s “Raw”. Bliss and Asuka advance to face the team of Dakota Kai and IYO SKY. Kai and SKY advanced last Monday with a win over 24/7 Champion Dana Brooke and Tamina.
The semifinal contest will be the latest big match for the recently formed trio of Bayley, Kai, and SKY, who have been targeting “Raw” Women’s Champion Bianca Belair. Bayley, Kai, and SKY debuted as a unit at SummerSlam following Belair’s successful title defense against Becky Lynch.

Two nights later on “Raw”, Bayley, Kai, and SKY took out the already-injured Lynch. Later in the show, Belair and SKY faced off in a one-on-one match. It ended in a “no contest” when Bayley got involved. Asuka and Bliss came to Belair’s aid and the battle lines were drawn. The two trios are set to collide in a six-women tag team match for next months’ Clash at the Castle event.

Bayley’s appearance at SummerSlam was her first appearance on WWE programming in more than a year. She was sidelined with a major knee injury. SKY had last been seen in “NXT” (where she was using the ring name Io Shirai) but had not been seen on the show in weeks. Kai was an even longer shot to appear at SummerSlam. She was released by WWE in April.

Shotzi Teases Return Of Element From Her WWE NXT Presentation

0
“SmackDown” Superstar Shotzi has teased the return of her fan-favorite tank under the leadership of the new WWE Head of Creative, Triple H, writes Wrestling Inc.‘s, Olivia Quinlan.

Shotzi took to her Instagram Story this morning to post a picture of the mini tank she used to drive to the ring during her “NXT” days. The tank is dark olive green with a cannon sticking out at the front and a skull underneath. The letters TCB (standing for “taking care of business”) are on the bumper.
She first introduced the tank to fans when she debuted in “NXT” back in late 2019 as Shotzi Blackheart. Fans loved seeing her ride the tank to the ring, helping her get over with them. During her feud with Candice LeRae in 2020, LeRae ran over her tank with an SUV in order to set up a WarGames match involving the two. At the event, Shotzi brought a new tank out, much to the approval of the audience. She made the move to the main roster the following year on “SmackDown” alongside Tegan Nox as the two rode the tank to the ring, but Shotzi got rid of the tank soon after and dropped Blackheart from her ring name.
Triple H was named Head of Creative and Executive Vice President of Talent Relations back in late July following the announcement of former CEO and chairman Vince McMahon’s departure from WWE. McMahon’s exit from the company followed news that he was being investigated by the Board of Directors for paying millions of dollars in hush money to former female employees to silence allegations of sexual abuse, misconduct, and harassment.

Ademola Lookman Scores against Sampdoria

0
Ademola Lookman scored a goal in a 2-0 win against Sampdoria on Saturday.
Lookman bagged his first appearance and goal as a Serie A footballer having substituted Luis Muriel, who failed to score over 63 minutes. He notched Atalanta’s consolation goal taking advantage of Sampdoria’s bad defensive tracking after their attempt to equalize.
Lookman who has been out of the Atalanta roster because of a nagging hip ailment was a late call up for Saturday’s game versus Sampdoria.
Lookman was curtailed by a muscle injury before transferring from German side, RB Leipzig, but he has recuperated very well.
He was always unlikely to see major minutes from the beginning of the season having missed out on his team’s friendlies.
It was always likely that the coach will look for ways to integrate Lookman in the rotations since possesses the skill-set to be a capable super-sub.
Lookman tallied six goals, 26 shots (12 on target), 23 chances and 18 crosses (two accurate) in 26 Premier League appearances with Leicester City last season.

Napoli thump Verona as Osimhen racially abused

0
Napoli ran out convincing 5-2 winners at Verona on Monday in their opening match of the Serie A season which was marred by Victor Osimhen being targeted by racist abuse from the stands reports Miguel Medina, AFP.

Osimhen was among the scorers in a thumping win for Napoli, who have had a tricky summer after losing stalwarts Kalidou Koulibaly, Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens.

However Luciano Spalletti’s team were on top form at the Stadio Bentegodi, with goals from their Nigerian forward, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Piotr Zielinski, Stanislav Lobotka and Matteo Politano ensuring they got off to a perfect start.

Verona battled and were level early in the second half through Kevin Lasagna and Thomas Henry, but shorn of last season’s stars Giovanni Simeone — on his way to Napoli on loan — and Gianluca Caprari, there was little Gabriele Cioffi’s side could do under a second-half onslaught.

Napoli were on top from the first minute but were hit with a sucker punch just before the half-hour mark when, after Alex Meret tipped over Martin Hongla’s shot, Lasagana tapped home Koray Gunter’s flick-on of the subsequent corner.

But Napoli were deservedly level eight minutes later through new boy Kvaratskhelia, who marked an impressive debut by meeting Hirving Lozano’s cross with a perfect header past Lorenzo Montipo.

And in first-half stoppage time Osimhen put Napoli ahead with a carbon copy of Lasagna’s opener from a corner, stretching to jab home Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s knockdown.

An AFP reporter at the game heard a section of the home support launch monkey chants at Osimhen, the latest episode of racist chanting at Verona who have a long history of far-right sympathies among their hardcore support.

After netting his first goal of the season, Nigeria striker Osimhen took off his protective face mask and mimicked crying into a pitch-side camera, suggesting he had heard abuse before his goal.

Napoli’s advantage only lasted two minutes after the half-time break as another debutant in Henry headed in his first Verona goal since arriving from local rivals Venezia.

The Frenchman then accidentally gave Lasagna a bloody nose in the celebrations and a match which had almost everything then swung again in Napoli’s favour in the 55th minute.

Classy Kvaratskhelia slid through Zielinski with a neat first-time pass and the Pole rolled home a calm finish which ended Verona’s resistance.

Ten minutes later the result was put beyond doubt thanks to a well-worked goal from Lobotka, who drove towards the hosts’ goal unchallenged before simply passing the ball past Montipo.

And substitute Politano put the cherry on the cake with 11 minutes remaining after another flowing passing move ended with the Italian collecting Osimhen’s lay-off and firing home low with his left home.

Juventus complete the first round of fixtures later on Monday when they host Sassuolo in Turin.

Serie A scores, takeaways: AC Milan off and running, Lukaku gets return goal but Inter need last-minute winner

9

Serie A came back with a bang this weekend writes CBS Soccer reporter Francesco Porzio

Serie A made its long-awaited return this weekend and the opening matches already gave us plenty to discuss. Serie A champions AC Milan started with a win over Udinese while Inter Milan needed every second of their match against Lecce to secure three points. Here are three things you need to know from opening day.

1. AC Milan pick up where they left off

The reigning champions got off to a positive — but eventful — start with a 4-2 win over Udinese at San Siro. The guests scored after only two minutes with Rodrigo Becao’s header but Stefano Pioli’s side managed to turn the match around by the 15-minute mark with a penalty scored by Theo Hernandez and a goal scored from Ante Rebic. At the end of the first half, former Watford winger Adam Masina scored the equalizer but it took only one minute into the second half for Brahim Diaz to bring the match back to control for AC Milan. Rebic would then score his second of the night in the 68th minute to put this one out of reach and secure the win for the title holders. Rebic has already matched his total Serie A goals for last season in one game while new signings Divock Origi and Charles De Ketelaere made their debut appearances in in the latter stages of the second half.

2. Lukaku returns, Inter nab last minute winner

Stadio del Mare in Lecce was home to an incredible night where Denzel Dumfries scored in the last second of the match to give Inter Milan the win in a tough place to play. Romelu Lukaku wasted no time and needed only 81 seconds to make his triumphant return to Serie A for the Nerazzurri. The former Chelsea striker found the breakthrough goal on a header to get last season’s runners-up going.

Inter, despite the opening goal, failed to really impress and Lecce managed to score the equalizer in the second half with Assan Ceesay. The Nerazzurri spent the rest of the second half searching for the second goal of the match, only for it to come in the dying seconds on a post-corner kick scrum. Dumfries emerged out of a crowded area inside the box to get a body on the ball following a header from Lautaro Martinez.

Huge three points for Simone Inzaghi to start the new season with an important win away from home.

3. Lookman nets his first goal

Atalanta won their opening match away against Sampdoria as Gian Piero Gasperini’s side managed to put together solid performance. Marco Giampaolo’s Sampdoria got off to a good start and even saw a goal scored by Francesco Caputo disallowed by the VAR, but Atalanta managed to ride the wave and score the opening goal with Rafael Toloi. It was their new signing Ademola Lookman that scored the final goal of the day that secured the win for the Nerazzurri of Bergamo. The former Leicester striker will give this team new attacking alternatives to Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel that can be very useful in the Gasperini’s style of play.
