In a statement by the sponsor of the meet, Alhaji Gara Ahmed Shuaibu Gombe Stated that the Athletics competition would be the first in the state aimed at fishing out new talents from Schools, Villages and Communities in the State.

Gombe, who is also the substantive Chairman of Gombe State Amateur Athletics Association, said the epoch making grand prix would attract professional athletes from other states which invariably would rob-off on the local stars, and help them to emulate and strive with top competitors all over the world.

Huge array of Athletes and officials have been invited as events that would feature at the grand prix include, 100m, 400m, 1500m, long jump men and women, followed by 4×100m relay (demonstrations).

Football loving fans at the NFF/FIFA Goal Project pitch at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Wednesday witnessed massive onslaught, as the Golden Eaglets massacred Young Strikers of Ilesha 11-1.

The visitors from Osun state went ahead early in the first half against the run of play as a result of defensive error from the Eaglets, but their joy was shortlived when the five-time world champions equalised almost immediately.

The rampaging Eaglets took complete control of the game, scoring two more goals to go into the break at 3-1 advantage.

On resumption, Young Strikers were completely overwhelmed by the enterprising Eaglets as their defence crumbled to eight more goals scored by the most successful National U -17 team in the world to the cheering of the fans.

Golden Eaglets had earlier subdued P-Sports Academy of Uyo 2-0 in the first friendly game played earlier in the day.

It was indeed a great feat as the Eaglets scored 13 goals in two games, conceding just one.

On Tuesday, Kano Pillars, former NPFL champions, fell like a pack of cards 3-1 before the Golden Eaglets. In the thrilling encounter, Pillars paraded most players that featured for the team last season before getting relegated to the second tier Nigeria National League, but they could not withstand the ferocious Eaglets, despite scoring first.

Shockingly, Tripple O Academy of Kaduna defeated Golden Eaglets 2-1, while the team also recorded a 6-4 loss to Derby Football Academy of Abuja.

Golden Eaglets have played 10 friendly games since they resumed camping last month. The team has won eight and lost two, scored 47 goals and conceded 13 goals in the process.

Aubameyang dropped from Chelsea squad again

MLS loan move could be Striker’s saving grace

Aubameyang Transfer: AXED out of Pecking order at Chelsea, Pierre Aubameyang AGREES to Loan Deal with LAFC - Check OutPierre Emerick Aubameyang: Could be MLS bound till the end of the season

By Edwin Emeanua-Editor

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang failed to make Chelsea’s manager Graham Potter’s team for the last two consecutive games, the last time against West Ham on Saturday placing his stay at the London club in doubt.

Aubameyang was linked with a move to the MLS with Los Angeles FC recently, a move that might yet offer the former Arsenal skipper an escape route from his current career blues. The American club reportedly held talks with Chelsea over a possible loan deal for the striker until the end of the season.

The UK Express reported that Aubameyang also reportedly turned down the MSL loan offer from LAFC prefering to fight for his place on the Chelsea squad, but, the turn of events appers to suggest that he is being gradually forced out of Stamford Bridge.

Aubameyang’s Chelsea future looks bleak having been cut from the Chelsea’s Champions League team at the begining of the month.

The former FC Barcelona of Spain forward has been gradually frozen out of the squad since Potter’s arrival at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea boss.

The Gabon international has been a misfiring forward since his arrival from Barcelona this summer and his persistent loss of form has seen things go from bad to worse since his return to the premier league.

Potter’s decision to drop Aubayang from his squad again for Saturday’s encounter with West Ham United at the London Stadium gives ascendancy to rumours that the former Arsenal striker could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer.

The former Borrusia Dotmund striker was one of only three fit Chelsea players missing in Potter’s 20-man squad to the Hammers game.

The others are Kalidou Koulibaly and Lewis Hall who were also left out on the team. Though not also in the team, Raheem Sterling appears to been rested by Potter after sustaining a training injury earlier during the week.

Aubameyang has been played in just 116 minutes of Premier League football since the begining of January and even failed to make the bench in his side’s goalless draw with Fulham at home, marking a remarkable turnaround for the 33-year-old striker.

Things have only continued to go downhill for Aubameyang on Saturday when he was dropped from Potter’s group for the second time in a row against West Ham, leaving his future at the club in a no-man’s-land.
