South Africa star Percy Tau says his side is hunting for a positive result against Nigeria in Uyo

 

 

Percy Tau, Bafana Bafana forward says his side is coming to Uyo, Nigeria purposed at getting a positive result against the Super Eagles on Friday.

Nigeria and South Africa are contending for qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Bafana Bafana occupying the second spot on the Group C log of the FIFA World Cup African qualifying with three points from two games.

The Super Eagles tag along South Africa as the third placed team in the Group’s table with just two points from as many games.

Tau, who plies him trade in Egypt with club Al Ahly, told Leadership News Bafana Bafana’s trump card for the crucial tie is to get a positive result in Nigeria.

The South Africa star is however  expecting a difficult match against a Super Eagles side yet to register a victory in the qualyfiers in Uyo on Friday.

“I’m looking forward to it, and I want to qualify for the World Cup with South Africa,” Tau told African Football.

“Against Nigeria and Zimbabwe, it won’t be easy, but we’ll try to get a result away from home because they’ll always be difficult and we lost to them at the AFCON 2023 tournament, so we have to try something this time.”

The Super Eagles clawed out a 4-2 penalty shootout victory in the last meeting of both teams. The South Africa defeat by Nigeria happened ealier this year in a semi-final clash at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
