The Black Stars of Ghana have agreed that they will not receive a winning bonus at the 2022 world cup in Qatar.
Disclosing this to Journalists in Accra, Ghana, on Thursday, the country’s football Federal spokesman, Me Henry Asante Twum, said the players have resolved to receive a qualification bonus instead of a winning bonus.
” The GFA held meetings with the players, and both parties are happy over this amicable settlement. The Football Association will ensure that the entire team and the technical crew are properly cared for in Qatar. The welfare of our players is very important to us,” he said.
Henry explained that funds to prosecute the preparation in Abu Dhabi and Qatar would be released by the Minister of Sports and Finance before the team leaves Ghana for Qatar.
Apart from the government money, plans are in top gear by the GFA to raise additional funds through corporate bodies. The GFA has scheduled a fundraising ceremony for next weekend in Kumasi, Ghana.
Ghana will start its campaign on November 24 against former European champions Portugal in Qatar.
