Lazio 1-2 Napoli
Napoli’s duo of African stars gave the Metropolitan team’s frenetic supporters a full dose for their money, by tormenting and assisting in a 2-1 away win over Lazio, yesterday, writes Edwin Emeanua for Sports Joust.
Napoli came form a goal down at the Stadio Olimpico after only four minutes into the fray to hand Lazio a famous home defeat.
Mattia Zaccagni broke the deadlock aided by a Felipe Anderson assist at the fourth minute mark of the tie.
However, Zaccagni effort gingered reactions from two of Luciano Spalletti’s newest additions in his lineup-Kim Min-jae (first half) and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (second half).
Kvaratskhelia’s first half effort was thwarted by the woodwork before technology affirmed Kim Min-jae’s header scuttling across the line from a corner kick in the 38th minute.
Kvaratskhelia missed a clear sitter, but replied with a scorching propellant, from just inside the box in the 61st minute from a Zambo Anguissa assist, to win the game for the visitors.
Victor Osimhen’s tormenting header rocketed off the woodwork saving Lazio a significant additional goals deficit. Both goalkeepers were kept on their toes with saves on Osimhen and Felipe Anderson.
Lazio came close to levelling the scores before time with a Pedro Ledesma’s effort, but it was not to be. With the win, Napoli has garnered 11 points to temporarily sit atop of Serie A in tandem with Milan, while awaiting Roma and Atalanta to play their outstanding ties.
