New Nigerian coach Finidi George says his team is fearless against Bafana Bafana and intends to beat the visitors this weekend on home turf.

The Nigeria manager makes his debute as Super Eagles’ boss against South Africa on Friday, June 7, 2024 in Uyo with a focus on a win with the Super Eagles.

Nigeria faces South Africa in a matchday three setting in the ongoing FIFA Africa World Cup qualifiers game and the former Ajax star is determined to win his first game in charge as Super Eagles manager.

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has backed his coach to notch his first victory for the Super Eagles in Goerge’s initial game in charge of Nigeria.

“There is no pressure, we just take the game one at a time, we just have to put ourselves together and try to win the game (against South Africa), then move on to the next game against Benin in Abidjan,” the Chippa United of South Africa goalkeeper stated to the Super Eagles media section.

“All we need now is to win this game and fight hard to qualify for the World Cup. Everybody is training hard and looking forward to the game.”

The Nigeria clash with South Africa is set for 8 p.m. on Friday, when the Super Eagles is billed encounter Bafana Bafana at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Meanwhile, former Nigeria striker Victor Ikpeba has warned against a Super Eagles  conplacency against Bafana Bafana in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Friday when both sides clash in their World Cup qualifiers tie.

The former Monaco star warned against taking Bafana Bafana at face value going by the team’s achievement at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire where they placed third.

“South Africa will be stubborn as we saw at the last AFCON. They have a lot going for them and are no longer intimidated by Nigeria,” Ikpeba informed Score Nigeria as reported by Soccer Laduma.

“The Super Eagles have to therefore step up to beat them in Uyo. It wont be an easy match, but Nigeria has the players to win.

“This is the game of their lives and Finidi George has to get them to win this match. We have to support the team to get the job done,” he added.
